First…the NWRC Friday Nighter 2012 newsflash !! ~~ there was a minor change(tie-breaking rules for the SOP Championship ~ Ties for the SOP Championship trophy places will be broken by the following process: The contestant who has the most Firsts, then most Seconds… If a tie still remains, then the contestant with the most Thirds will be the winner. And if there is still a tie …then matching trophies for the tied positions will be awarded.)
Secondly, the really big news is that this season will continue to run from March through November. Can you believe it? For those folks who wanted a bit more inclement weather to rally in…you got your wish for a second year in a row.
This could prove to be an exciting season…for sure. Although it would be hard pressed to see such an intense competition between FORD & CHEVY(2011 Novice championship) or the need for the TIE BREAKER rules update for the 2011 SOP championship (since the top two teams were swapping the lead the prior 3 months) coming into end of the season & there was not a ‘tie breaker’ in place for that championship….so, it was implemented & just in time too !!
In addition, ORCA’s premier gravel event Night On Bald Mountain is taking a year off. Chuckanut’s Monster’s Revenge is also taking a year off…time for the rallymasters to renew their energy. But RASC’s Raindrop & No Alibi are happening again this year with the return of NOR’WESTER for 2012 Watch for the event dates on the NWRC web page which should be updated within the next week.
And one final announcement for the 2012 season…ORCA is hosting their TSD Rally class this year. It will be happening the Saturday before the April NWRC Friday Nighter on the 13th. Contact Debbie Sjodin for further info… ORCA

Ok….now that you have your tsd appetite teased a bit by last month’s Friday Nighter…get ready for more. Yup, that’s right…the second NWRC Friday Nighter is but a few days away….it’s THIS COMING FRIDAY !! April 9th.
The hosting club is PSRC & the rallymaster is none other than Kelly Smith. And according to him…this rally will feature the roads around Carnation and Fall City.
The title of the rally is “Hast seen the white whale?” Yes, that’s right, we’re on the trail of Moby Dick.
Now for some final words from the rallymaster…”This will be, in keeping with my rally philosophy, a nice drive with some low penalty traps for the folks who like that sort of thing. I have been through the course a couple of times, and I like it !!! ”
I never knew that Kelly was such a fan of Classic Literature…Wow…this is going to be such fun !!
This event ends at Roundtable Pizza in Issaquah.
For those of you who are competing as a SOP this year….make sure that you review the updated changes for 2010 SOP Championship, found after clicking the “POINTS” button & scrolling down to the related SOP portion.
See everyone at the Eastgate Park-Ride:..Same starting location: at the back of the lot under the overpass.
